The Yaxche educational process has the family and community at its core. Yaxche is firmly committed to ensuring that all parents have a voice in school affairs and a multitude of opportunities for rich and varied involvement, including volunteering in the classroom, presenting special topics of interest, accompanying students on field trips, participating in outdoor activities, serving on the Yaxche Board of Directors, serving as Class Representatives, and creating new forms of parent involvement.

A significant component of parent involvement at Yaxche is through the individual class Parent Representatives. The Parent Representatives welcome constructive criticism, complaints, and suggestions, and aid in conflict resolution. The Parent Representatives encourage parent involvement and develop parent involvement programs in cooperation with the Head of School, the Mentors, and the Board of Directors.

To ensure Yaxche’s continued success, each parent must be a fundraiser. Parents contribute to our fundraising efforts in many ways, including the following:

Personal donations
Donations from family and friends
Grant writing
Multifamily yard sales
Craft sales
Cooking school volunteer
Special events volunteer
Annual dinner
Golf tournament
