Yaxche is on the move. Yaxche has outgrown its current facilities and is ready to embark on an environmentally responsible renovation of a 14,000 sq. ft. building on seven acres with majestic views of Taos mountain and in close proximity to the Rio Grande Gorge. This new educational facility will feature today’s most efficient sustainable and regenerative technologies, utilizing the power of the sun and wind and recycled water. The new campus will enlarge classroom educational opportunities as well as provide an entire campus SITE OF LEARNING.

Yaxche recognizes that we are living in precarious times when much of the Earth’s resources are being mismanaged and polluted. In our current program, students are educated to become environmentally intelligent, creating the expectation of societal leadership and transformative environmental possibilities. Connecting the classroom to the community is vital to a new understanding of ecological stewardship and strengthening frayed social relationships. Responding to social needs, Yaxche is offering young people experiences which foster the skills and develop an orientation to participatory democracy and the entire project, design > build > live-in and learn, will act as a catalyst for all involved to be directly engaged in and contributing to solving society’s problems.

Express your talent and expertise: we want your input on the design and construction. We have the opportunity to together learn and capture the spirit of embedding classroom learning in the life of the community.
